Golden Hour Poppies
When I walk through my Piedmontese countryside, I adore that magical moment just before sunset when the sun is low on the horizon: the light becomes warm, golden, almost orange, and transforms everything it touches into something precious. That is where I find my greatest inspiration for drawing en plein air.
Facing the page, I do not seek a complicated drawing; I want that warmth to remain bare and simple. I choose to strip away everything else to focus only on that light passing through the petals.
To me, this watercolor is a moment of peace. It is proof that beauty doesn’t need noise or too many details. A breath of color on the paper is enough to remind us that wonder is a simple thing, if we only know how to let it breathe.
